George Town Library
The George Town library in Grand Cayman is set to undergo a multi-million dollar expansion. A first-class library is a key component of any education system and Maples is proud to be key sponsor of this expansion initiative. The new ‘Maples Wing’ extension will improve the available learning and reading facilities for children and young adults. This is a long-term public/private partnership and Maples’ donation of US$2,500,000 spread over a period of 10 years will be matched by the Cayman Islands Government.

The Cayman Islands Cystic Fibrosis Trust
Established in 2005, the Trust's aim is to contribute towards worldwide research projects to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. Maples is a proud sponsor of the Trust and staff are frequently involved in fundraising activities. The ‘Bedtime Story Fun Day’ is a popular annual family event which supports Maples’ aim of improving literacy levels within the Cayman Islands' community. This facility is due to open later in 2008 and will enable the Gallery to host a more diverse range of functions and exhibitions.
Maples' donation will also contribute towards the construction of the Maples and Calder Library, which will be the biggest art and design library in the Cayman Islands, fully equipped with a wide range of educational materials.

Maples Community Development Programme
The Maples Community Development Programme was established to create a series of rugby programmes across Grand Cayman encouraging more Caymanian youngsters to get involved in the game. Maples has funded the programme's expansion into the community through running community rugby outreach camps in selected districts, close to the young players' homes.
The Programme provides a selection process through which new members of the Maples Sevens Academy are recruited. The Programme is also a feeder stream to the new National Womens' Academy initiative which will start in 2008.

Maples Sevens Academy
The Maples Sevens Academy was established in 2004 to help the Cayman Islands implement a development programme giving talented rugby players the chance to compete in international tournaments. The Academy was set up in partnership with the Cayman Islands Government, the Department of Sports and the Cayman Islands Rugby Club. Funds raised have enabled the Cayman Rugby Union to purchase equipment and provide coaching to the players. Players are selected from the Community Development Programme. Successful candidates recently included six young Caymanian players who went to Fiji on a six-week training programme, run by Fijian rugby stars from the National Club Sevens Champions Red Rock. The Acadamy supports Maples’ ethos of promoting education and sporting opportunities for young Caymanians. The Academy has produced several top players and community leaders as well as encouraged people to give back to their communities through coaching and refereeing.
